Dear Sangha,
By now many of you may have heard that H.H. Katog Getse Rinpoche has passed. This is a great loss for the Katog Lineage and for so many of us who have been fortunate to receive transmissions from him.
H.H. Katog Moksa Rinpoche asked me to go to Nepal to support and participate in the offering ceremonies called “dungchod” that will be taking place – and so I am making my way there now.
H.H. Getse Rinpoche has visited many of our centers; he is a teacher to all who received secret mantra transmission from him. For us students, now is a very important time for practice. We have the potential for great spiritual growth during the 49 days following his passing. When we practice during these days, we deepen our connection, restore impaired samaya, and enrich our practice. My advice to you is to accumulate as many of the Seven Line Prayer and Vajra Guru Mantra as possible over the next 49 days.
Many monasteries and centers across the globe will likewise be engaged in special practices for His Holiness Getse Rinpoche’s passing. The Katog Monastery where he passed and the other main Katog Monastery in Nepal will be doing the main ceremonies. If you would like to make a connection to these offering ceremonies, we are providing you with an opportunity to donate. Katog Choling will be wiring the funds to me in Nepal to offer to those pujas in a few days time. Especially for those fortunate among you who have received transmissions from His Holiness, if you are so inspired, I encourage you to connect in this way by making a small donation.
